WHO IS ‘NASTY’ NATE SMANDYCH?

    @nasty_nates started out in karate at the age of 12. When he was 15, he followed in the footsteps of his big brother, Trevor, and made the switch to the Muay Thai and Kickboxing program. Known for his clean technique and slick fight style in the ring, Nate amassed 49 fights under the guidance of coach Mike Miles and Trevor, with a fight record of 32W-17L with 4 KOs. 
    Some of his most notable opponents included Gabriel Varga (Canada), Matt Embree (Canada), Dave Fensom (England), Mark DeLuca (USA), and Paul Karpowicz (England). Nate’s list of championship titles include:
 
    • 2004 – WKA North American Superlightweight MuayThai Champion
    • 2005 – IKF North American Lightwelterweight MuayThai Champion
    • 2006 – IFMA Amateur World MuayThai Championships – Silver Medal
    • 2006 – IKF World Classic Lightwelterweight MuayThai Champion
    • 2007 – IAMTF North American Jr.Welterweight Champion  
    Nate taught many classes at both locations of Mike Miles Kickboxing and Muay Thai, and in 2010, Nate and Trevor became business partners when they branched out and started Team Smandych together. While Nate is now retired from fighting, he continues to pass on his technical knowledge and expertise to the students of Team Smandych. Nate is known for his fun and vibrant energy… and his love of burpees. 
    Outside of the gym you will find Nate spending time with his wife Sarah and their two daughters, or cheering on the Calgary Flames!
